“The right price-quality ratio, super sleek and businesslike when necessary, but always pleasant to deal with when possible.” These are the words of Barry van Es, owner of Civil Engineering Ingenieursbureau BVE Infra B.V. on Texel, when asked about his collaboration with Geodirect from Mijdrecht.

Texel and Mijdrecht are pretty far apart, at least for Dutch standards. Nevertheless, the two organizations found each other. How that happened during the first growth spurt of BVE Infra B.V. is a nice anecdote. “I needed a GPS system. Renting a GPS or hiring someone was not profitable, especially given the location on Texel. Via Marktplaats.nl I came into contact with an engineering firm that offered a Stonex S9. A nice piece of equipment, but of course I didn’t get the right support from Marktplaats. Geodirect was there for me, with the right support and the service and maintenance I was looking for.”

A lasting relationship
The relationship has grown since 2016. A lasting relationship, as Barry points out. His arsenal now consists of a Phantom-4 RTK drone for photogrammetry, a Stonex X300 3D scanner, a Stonex F6 handheld scanner, a Stonex R35 Total Station and a Stonex XH120 SLAM 3D scanner. Provided by Geodirect, including all associated software and support. Naturally, Barry has invested in mastering the equipment and software. He attended training courses and has short lines with the Geodirect support department. His own curiosity and love for the various “gadgets” also motivated him to master the ins & outs.

The fact that a lasting relationship has developed is twofold, according to Barry. “The experiences with Geodirect are good. The support is on-point and their products have a unique price-quality ratio on the market. Having one supplier also has real advantages, such as linking measuring equipment with current and future software and linking the hardware with each other. It is nice to know I can count on reliable and professional maintenance.”
